The Black Penny

The Black Penny seemed perfect for a weekend brunch. The counter was embellished with nice pastries and bread, the room decoration is modern and pleasant, the place is bright and the prices are affordable.

The staff is quickly busy and seeing them blowing hot air was not too pleasant. The service is very low and not really efficient.

This Saturday was extremely busy due to the Fashion Week but I wanted to enjoy my Brunch. It was unfortunately complicated that day: the waiter didn’t give us the choice to wait for a table and placed us at the counter where there was too much people passing by and we weren’t really comfortable.

Then, the other waitress took our order but forgot to send the order to the kitchen, so we waited a really long time to be served. In the end, the waiters were hot so they opened the door and actually it was pretty cold outside so we asked them to close the door and they refused.

Fortunately the quality and the originality of the dishes rectified my entire opinion of the place. We chose the Hunter which was the traditional English breakfast with crispy bacon, smoked sausage, mushroom, spicy cooked beans and poached eggs on toast which was very pleasant but actually the service is as much important as the food and it was not up to it.
